Haddon Wool/Craft Expo - Sunday 25th July

We had a fun time at the Haddon (Ballarat) Community centre yesterday. Our "Make & Take" table was a big hit with felted silk flowers, felted flower brooches and dry felting to be tried!

One small poppet who thoroughly enjoyed creating, just happened to be my Great Niece! Any family resemblance here? Certainly a love of making!

These felted Silk Flowers created lots of interest yesterday and are now available in Kit form with full instructions at PreciousPurl.

The guest Textile Artist, Penny O'Neill - Crochet Queen extraordinaire, did go "via Botswana!!"
but with the help of many locals, finally made it to instruct us in dc's, trebles and chains!!

This promises to be an Annual event so we look forward to seeing lots more people next year.

Don't forget my Giveaway! Last day to leave a comment is tomorrow, Tuesday 27th July.

Australian Wool & Sheep Show - Bendigo

What a huge, long weekend !! Precious Purl made the trip to Bendigo for this amazing show, the largest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. We met so many customers, old and new (not talking about birthdays here!) It was so busy and a bit of a blur, but great to see you all.
We joined up with the merry Ravelry band on Saturday night for dinner. It was awesome to see so many knitters/crocheters working away while chatting, eating and drinking.

Here's the divine Miss Kylie Gusset taking photos in the Precious Purl/Lara Downs stand, no doubt for her next feature in a yarn magazine!! while Pam looks after business!!(sorry about the blur, the eyes weren't functioning very well on limited sleep! and I didn't manage any other photos for the weekend!) The Lara Downs yarn still looks luscious!
If you missed the show this year, make it a must for next, it just gets bigger and better.

Please Note!!

Precious Purl will be closed on Thursday 15th July, Friday 16th July, and Saturday 17th July.

We will be attending the Bendigo Wool and Sheep Show and you can find us in Osborne Hall, Site 6.
This is an amazing event! Put it in your diary now if you are interested in Natural Fibres.

Brisbane Textile Art Festival June 25-27

Just a few pics taken at the Brisbane Textile Art Festival a week ago.

Gill Venn of Fibreworks blending beautifully with her collaborative crochet piece background.

The Queensland Quilters had a beautiful display.

The Art of Recycling competition was amazing!
This jacket was made from a 20 year old Kaffe Fassett jumper, taken apart and given a new life .

Loved these Zipper flowers.

I had a wonderful 2 days at this Festival with my friend Lisa. Lots of coffee, eats, meeting friends, improving our crochet skills, (not practised in the last 20 years or is that 30 in my case???) some spending and much oohing and aahing over textile and fibre delights!!! Highly recommend a visit to next years!

Where have I been??

Well, you may have wondered!!
No! I hadn't really died and gone to heaven!!   Almost!!
I've been to lovely warm Brisbane for the Textile Art Festival held at the Exhibition Centre, South Bank, last Friday 25th to Sunday 27th June. Had a wonderful time chatting to many like-minded Textile and Fibre lovers, doing workshops, seeing what's new, catching up with a friend I had not seen for 12 years, and thoroughly enjoying all that Brisbane has to offer.
I will post some pics when I have done my 2 days at the shop and "re acclimatised" to this COLD!
